During the worst of the pandemic, hymns were sung alone at home. Muffled by masks was an improvement, but it was a joyful experience, indeed, for those who came to the diocesan hymn sing at Christ Church Cathedral on June 4 to savour singing favourite hymns together again.

Accompanied by the Cathedral director of music, James Calkin, the Cathedral boys choir and lay clerks led an hour of favourite hymns, including “How great thou art,” “Tell out my soul,” “Praise my soul the King of heaven,” and “Love divine.” Associate music director Andrew McAnerney, charmingly enriched the experience with stories about the music, writers and composers.
